This plaque belongs to a series designed by French medallist Marie-Alexandre Coudray for the sales catalogue of the Monnaie de Paris. The series had as its subject a variety of different professions and sports, such as horticulture, viticulture, fencing, football and skiing. On the front of this arch plaque, a farmer drives his plough with two oxen through the field by the rising sun. A young man in back view encourages the animals with a stick. The reverse shows a reaper with scythe in the cornfield.
