Breton medallist and sculptor Gilbault regularly found inspiration in the traditions of his native Brest. Titled "Jour de Fête", this art medal depicts a woman in Breton attire with the typical lace headgear. He exhibited this medal at the Paris Salons in 1900 and 1901 and at the Salon of the Medal during the World Fair in Ghent in 1913.
