This arched plaque was presented by Godfried Devreese to the members of the Société Hollandaise-Belge des Amis de la Médaille d'Art. Jeanne Czerny successfully performed the role of Salomé in Richard Strauss' opera of the same name at the Royal Monnaie Operahouse in Brussels in 1907-8 and was the model for this medal. Salome is depicted dancing with a bowl with the severed head of John the Baptist and a large sword beside it on the ground in front of her feet. Jeanne Czerny was presented with the original design together with a silver strike in her name by the association "Le Royal Waterzoei de Bruxelles".
