Georges Vantongerloo is internationally known as the most important abstract artist from Belgium. The acquisition relates to the ambition of the museum to acquire a masterpiece each year. In the past years, Mu.ZEE acquired amongst others art works by Jules Schmalzigaug, James Ensor, Léon Spilliaert and Jean Brusselmans. The collection is further developed according to the concept of ‘Global Art History’.
