The engraving depicts the activities of September and October in an Italian landscape. The fruit harvest is depicted on the left and the grape harvest on the right. In the left foreground are ladders against apple trees. Men sit in the trees and pick the fruit. Below the trees, the fruit is collected in baskets transported by donkey. In the centre, grapes are picked and on the right, wine barrels are nailed shut. At the back right, in a small building, grapes are pressed by feet. At the top of the hill the ruins of a round temple. At the top left and right, the signs of the zodiac are represented: the constellation Libra and the constellation Scorpio.
