Thierry de Limburg-Stirum (Antwerp 1827 - Brussels 1911) was a lawyer and, from 1878, a senator for the district of Veurne-Diksmuide-Ostend. Thierry de Limburg-Stirum (Antwerp 1827 - Brussels 1911) was a lawyer and, from 1878, a senator for the district of Veurne-Diksmuide-Ostend. He particularly made a name for himself as a historian, archaeologist, numismatist and ardent amateur of art medals. He stood at the cradle of the "Société hollandais-belge des Amis de la Médaille". So it goes without saying that he had this silver medal made to mark the 50th anniversary of his marriage to Marie-Thérèse de Thiennes Leyenburg et de Rumbeke (Ghent 1828 - Brussels 1909). The obverse shows the couple in old age, while the reverse shows the two coats of arms of the respective families.
