Paolo Farinati (painters (artists))
The Portrait of a man, attributed to Paolo Farinati, is a so-called status portrait. The identity of the person portrayed is unknown. Altar pieces and mythological or allegorical frescos by Farinati have been preserved in various palaces and churches in Verona. His numerous chiaroscuro drawings on paper bear testimony to his excellent draughtsmanship and were often used as a ‘modello’.
